Electrical Engineer Energy Storage Solutions

Role Summary
A leading Irish manufacturer in the energy storage sector is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design, testing, and integration of advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS). This opportunity is ideal for candidates passionate about clean energy and technical innovation, offering exposure to grid-connected and off-grid projects.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Development
- Design electrical systems including inverters and power distribution for BESS
- Create detailed schematics, single-line diagrams, and testing documentation
- Conduct power system analyses and feasibility assessments
Testing & Technical Integration
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and installation of energy storage units
- Ensure full compliance with grid code standards and safety protocols (IEC/IEEE)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues during commissioning and rollout
Project Execution & Collaboration
- Develop SOPs for assembly and product testing
- Liaise with utilities, grid operators, and clients regarding interconnection requirements
- Offer on-site technical support throughout project lifecycle
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all designs meet Irish and EU electrical regulatory standards
- Conduct safety evaluations and risk assessments for installed components
- Monitor evolving trends and incorporate emerging technologies
Candidate Profile
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years experience in power systems or BESS engineering
- Proficiency in electrical design software
- Familiarity with Irish/EU grid connection standards
- Strong understanding of battery components and BMS (Battery Management Systems)
- Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting and system analysis skills
- Strong communicator with collaborative mindset
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with solar/wind integration or microgrid solutions
- Chartered Engineer or Energy Storage Professional certification
- Understanding of demand response and energy markets
