POSITION TITLE: Director of Operations

Griffin, GA

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To support the vision, mission and guiding principles of Company.
  • While performing any procedure, all associates must observe applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines. The use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
  • Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
  • Adhere to Company operating procedures, benefit rules, employment, and safety policies/practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Operations plans, coordinates, or directs the operations of the facility and is responsible for supervising departmental operations, including generating revenue and controlling costs.

1. Operation Management

  • Establish the standards for cost control, waste reduction, production, quality and safety.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for Production and Quality standards.
  • Coordinate the plant operations for Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Human Resources and Safety.
  • Coordinate plant activities through planning with Departmental Managers to ensure objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Approve Maintenance work in the production area.
    • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries related to production.
    • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and related expenses
    • Incorporate 5S shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among Production personnel.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

    2. REPORTING

    • On a weekly basis, report on the progress toward assigned projects, issues and other initiatives and deliver briefs, updates and reports when required.
    • Report any problems or delays to related departments immediately,
    • Monthly production results.

    3. OTHER/SUPERVISORY

    • Supervise and support the activities of the team members, and mentor and coach the team members to enhance their career and professional development.
    • Builds, develops and manages Production leadership team to ensure they are capable of carrying out needed operational strategies and employee development and training.
    • Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships
    • Analyzes and resolves work issues, and/or assists team members in solving work issues.
    • Develop and maintain the ISO9001 procedures and work instructions.

    • Any other duties as assigned.


    JOB SCOPE

Errors in judgment will waste resources and adversely impact company performance. Incumbent operates independently but work is verified. Content of work priorities are determined by supervision.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related technical field or five years production/general management experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Can communicate effectively with people at various levels including production, engineering, sales and management. Work well with and develops a partnering relationship with other team members, vendors and customers.
    • Exposure to and achievement in continuous improvement activities.
    • Experience in simultaneously managing multiple projects.
    • Competency in MS-Office, comparable ERP and ability to learn new software packages is a must.
    • Willing to take a hands-on approach to the production process.
    • Infrequent travel is required with a possibility of some international travel.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.
    • Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
    • Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 1-2 year time span.
    • Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
    • Technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, Kaizen, Process Improvement, Six Sigma, TPM, ISO.
    • Employee training and development. Ability to train and mentor others
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high performance teams and a strong team player.
    • Commitment to company values, Strong customer orientation and Experienced in an ISO environment.
    • Knowledge of safety (OSHA) and some knowledge of environmental (EPA) practices and regulations to ensure compliance.

    • Strong financial understanding of key operational metrics and experience with budgets and financials statements.
    • Experience in roll to roll continuous manufacturing, is preferred (such as laminating process, printing, paper, plastics)

    Equipment and Applications

    • Standard office equipment such as word processors, phones, fax, etc.
    • Manufacturing equipment associated and applications with Plant operations as required.
    • A valid drivers license compliant with Company motor vehicle policy and subject to annual MVR checks
