Job Description

  • Professional Leadership: Take full professional responsibility for the optics field within the company and serve as the primary source of optical knowledge.
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Translate customer requirements and drawings into feasible optical specifications for production.
  • Supplier Management: Maintain ongoing technical communication with local and global optical suppliers regarding design, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
  • Production Oversight: Oversee the manufacturing of optical components at subcontractors, including evaluating supplier capabilities and ensuring alignment with requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Define incoming inspection protocols and quality control standards for optical components and assemblies.
  • Testing & Jigs: Characterize optical jigs and test setups for assembly, bonding, and production testing.
  • Engineering Support: Provide technical support for assembly, bonding, and NPI (New Product Introduction) processes, and participate in technical discussions with customers, engineering, and quality teams.

Job Requirements

  • Education: B.Sc. in Optics, Physics, or Electro-optics – Mandatory.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience with optical components and systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supplier Relations: Proven experience working with optical suppliers and subcontractors in Israel and abroad.
  • Quality Control: Experience in incoming inspection and quality control for optical components.
  • Tooling & Design: Experience in characterizing and designing (advantage) optical jigs and test arrays.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of optical tolerances and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) – Advantage.
  • Communication: High-level technical English and the ability to work effectively with customers and various internal stakeholders.
  • Lasers: Knowledge and experience in working with lasers, including familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations.
