Role Purpose
The Portfolio Product Manager for Digital Enablement is accountable for the end-to-end operations and support of new and existing digital platform propositions designed to help Micro, Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) reach their full potential.
This role focuses on supporting and enabling SMMEs by maturing existing platforms such as fintech solutions, SME access-to-market initiatives, advertising, skills development platforms, product marketplaces, and trade marketplaces. The successful candidate will also help iterate and scale new marketplaces designed to address growth challenges faced by SMMEs.
The ideal candidate is commercially savvy, entrepreneurial, and proactive. They should be comfortable working independently and in cross-functional or global teams, navigating ambiguity, and managing complexity. Experience in digital product management, digital marketing, and/or product design is essential.
Key Performance Objectives & Responsibilities
Management & Execution
- Define the digital target market and SMME personas.
- Translate organisational strategy into operational targets and strategic focus areas.
- Execute the SME digital platforms strategy, meeting sales, revenue, and margin targets.
- Drive commercialisation of access-to-market, skills development, fintech, product, and trade marketplaces.
- Expand the platform ecosystem in collaboration with product and partnership teams.
Digital Enablement & Operations
- Deliver customer-centric digital SME innovation informed by insights and market research.
- Define and embed solution design and UX methodologies to deliver world-class digital capabilities.
- Develop customer journeys and value propositions aligned to the SME sales plan.
- Oversee the development and management of digital products and platforms within agreed P&L and SLA parameters.
- Provide regular reporting (forecasts, campaign performance, digital sales performance).
- Manage direct or cross-functional teams where required to deliver or enhance propositions.
- Ensure governance and consistency in digital enablement delivery.
Operations Management
- Manage operational delivery of stock, devices, and fulfilment to meet SLAs.
- Oversee forecasting and procurement processes.
- Monitor turnaround times for fulfilment, assurance, and support, addressing challenges as needed.
Go-to-Market (GTM) & Campaigns
- Define GTM strategies for digital propositions.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to implement GTM plans.
- Execute digital campaigns, ensuring ROI and managing campaign budgets.
- Delivering Through People
- Lead and support the team to deliver business outcomes.
- Promote knowledge sharing and build organisational capability through skills development.
- Embed performance management, coaching, and engagement practices.
- Motivate and recognise team members to build a high-performance culture.
Stakeholder Management
- Foster strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration to create superior customer experiences.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support growth in the SME segment.
- Build and maintain key account and partner relationships.
- Value Proposition Management
- Design and implement SME value propositions aligned to business strategy.
- Ensure differentiation and relevance of propositions, driving SME market share growth.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to refine strategy.
- Ensure successful rollout of SME products and propositions across channels.
- Monitor performance through KPIs, analytics, and customer satisfaction measures (e.g., NPS).
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree (Sales, Marketing, Business Commerce, Engineering, or related field).
- Postgraduate qualification in a related field (advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in:
- Digital product management.
- Online/digital sales.
- Optimising multiple sales channels and growing market share.
- Achieving ambitious sales targets in dynamic market conditions.
- Digital marketing.
