Who we are:
Vancouver College of Counselling Training (VCCT) is seeking a highly qualified Instructor to join our team of education professionals. As a Instructor, you will play a critical role in supporting our adult learners as they work toward achieving their educational and career goals.
Position Overview:
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about education, possess a Master of Education (M.Ed.) or Master of Arts (M.A.), and are Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Candidates should have a strong background in academic support, IT literacy, and customer service competencies.
As an Instructor at VCCT, you will foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment, offering personalized one-on-one coaching to learners while also assisting with various administrative and instructional tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and IT-related support to adult learners enrolled in self-directed courses.
- Develop an understanding of course content to effectively assist learners.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including ordering materials, entering student data, generating reports, welcoming visitors, answering telephones, corresponding with various parties, monitoring student attendance, and handling student records.
- Foster a welcoming and positive learning atmosphere that encourages student success.
- Distribute and proctor practical exams as required.
- Coach adult learners on exam preparation, study habits, and academic success strategies.
- Prepare soon-to-be graduates for re-entering the workforce by providing career-related guidance and support.
Qualifications
- A Master of Education (M.Ed.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) from a recognized Canadian institution (international qualifications may be considered equivalent).
- Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong IT literacy and experience with software/hardware troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferably Canvas, including the ability to log in, navigate the platform, and grade exams and quizzes using standard letter grading formats.
- Familiarity with virtual platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and the ability to communicate effectively online with students.
- Willingness to obtain the Academy of Learning Facilitator Certification by successfully completing required exams within a specified timeframe.
- Passion for education and supporting adult learners.
- Experience working with adults in an educational setting (preferred).
- Experience in a private career college, particularly as a teaching assistant or facilitator (an asset).
- Must be available to work In-Person, Remotely and Asynchronous
Minimum Instructor Qualifications:
- A certificate, diploma, or post-secondary degree relevant to the subject matter plus two years of full-time work experience in a career relevant to the course, OR
- 10 years of full-time work experience in a career occupation relevant to the subject matter.
