Purpose of the job

- As a solution architect you'll work in a Big Data environment, to lead supervise and contribute to building an elastic , high performance CVM data engineering pipelines, computing and data storage platform that underpins the diverse workloads running on data lake infrastructure.

- You will be working with the team on problems involving large scale data engineering, data and metadata storage, computing infrastructure automation and more.

- You will be expected to set the standards, contribute architecture and implementation for different systems and applications. Promote best practices and build technical excellency culture within the team. The candidate will play a vital role in creating vision, judge features feasibility and lead architecture workshops, and leading the design, make high level decision for CVM application, mediation, governing and stewardship of corporate data sets. You will be working closely with other teams to support mining, auditing, testing, researching and visualizing corporate data sets and with the business consumers and subject matter experts to drive smart data driven solutions and initiatives.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Design and implement data pipelines, scripts and services
  • Assessing the data architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it
  • Designing, modifying, and testing technical architecture.
  • Propose solutions and provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions
  • Continually research the current and emerging technologies and propose changes where needed
  • Inform various stakeholders about any issues with the current technical solutions being implemented
  • Resolve L3 production issues.
  • Provide strong technical leadership to the team with a focus on quality, performance, and security.
  • Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while also promoting practical decision making.
  • Help growing the team by contributing in recruitment process.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, modelers and IT team members on project goals.
  • Optimize the performance and support monitoring of data platform systems and computing infrastructure.
  • Define and review service availability and quality SLAs.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs and budgets
  • Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed updates
  • Work closely with Information Technology professionals within the company to ensure hardware is available for projects and working properly
  • Propose and establish framework for necessary contributions from various departments
  • Account for possible project challenges on constraints including, risks, time, resources and scope
  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and manage their proper execution
  • Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives

Job specification

Education

  • Bachelor degree of Engineering in Computer Systems, or Computer Science.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of hands-on software engineering experience
  • 2+ years leading a data engineering projects as Sr. Data Engineer or similar role.
  • Solid engineering fundamentals with extensive and strong software development experience.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior and senior software engineers.
  • Experience developing IT and cloud infrastructure
  • Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures
  • Past experience in telecom operators and service providers is preferred.
