Purpose of the job

To manage and maintain Active directory and Exchange systems.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Install new and rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Perform daily system and security monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, review system and application logs.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and integrity checked regularly.
  • Provide support to various end user and developer groups by request.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
  • Administering, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft Exchange server.
  • Managing mailboxes, public folders, and other mailbox resources.
  • Troubleshooting Exchange server issues and performance tuning.
  • Developing and implementing anti-spam and anti-virus measures.
  • Creating and managing mailbox stores and distribution groups.
  • Configuring and managing mobile devices that link to Exchange.
  • Performing backups, restores, and setting up disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitoring Exchange server performance and optimizing server resources.
  • Performing Exchange server upgrades and patching as needed.
  • Providing end-user support and troubleshooting.

Job specification

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or any related field from a recognized university.

Experience

  • Experience engineering support of Active Directory, DNS, and any additional Microsoft.
  • Experience with Active Directory including GPO, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience with capacity planning, performance monitoring and maintenance planning to ensure high availability.
  • Work closely with network engineering in the development, coordination, troubleshooting of enterprise network security systems and implementation of appropriate rulesets.
  • Participate with implementation of solutions involving data encryption, data masking, secure file transfers, and data leakage prevention. Supports new initiatives related to regulatory mandates.
  • Assist in maintaining Application Packaging Standards / Desktop Standards / Hardware Imaging / OS Patches, etc.
  • Design / Develop PowerShell Scripts for Automation of Operational Process, where appropriate
  • Implement / Support Security Policies / Audits - Troubleshoot / Resolve Security Permissions Issues.
  • Interface with Systems Admins / DBAs to Improve Operational Processes / Engineering Standards, etc.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (PowerShell / VBScript / Python, etc.).
  • Exchange Administration / Support; SQL Server Administration / Support.
