Job Description:

The Sales Specialist for Consumer & Agri-Business products will focus on building a pervasive distribution network to get our products into retail outlets, wholesalers, and agro-dealers across Kenya. Your role is critical in executing route-to-market strategies, driving volume growth, and ensuring brand visibility. Success requires a blend of trade marketing, relationship management, and rigorous financial oversight to collect payments and grow a sustainable business.

  • Trade & Relationship Management: Build strong partnerships with distributors and key trade accounts. Train and motivate their sales teams, execute merchandising standards, and support local promotional activities to stimulate demand.
  • Credit Control & Collections: Take full ownership of the debt collection process for your accounts. Monitor credit limits, follow up on overdue payments diligently, and ensure minimal bad debt to support company cash flow objectives.
  • Market Execution: Ensure compliance with pricing strategies, monitor stock levels at distributor and retail levels, and gather competitive intelligence on pricing, promotions, and new products.
  • Reporting & Planning: Provide accurate daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports, market feedback, and collection updates. Utilize data to plan activities and resource allocation effectively.

Qualifications:

  •  2-3 years of successful field sales experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector, Agri-inputs (seeds, fertilizers, crop protection), or consumer durables, with a focus on distributor management.
  • Strong understanding of the Kenyan retail trade landscape, wholesale channels, and the agricultural sector. Familiarity with seasonal agri-cycles and consumer buying behavior.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets in a fast-paced, competitive environment. Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  •  Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage effectively with distributors, retailers, farmers, and internal teams. Ability to conduct product training sessions.
  • Self-starter with the discipline to work independently across a large geographic territory, often in rural and peri-urban areas. Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75% of time).
  • Hands-on experience with managing distributor finances, including credit management and a proven ability to collect outstanding debts.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili is essential. Knowledge of local dialects is a significant advantage.
