About the Role:

The System Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and reliability of the organizations IT systems, servers, and network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability. The role requires strong technical expertise in system configuration, troubleshooting, backup management, and security controls, with the ability to resolve issues independently and with minimal supervision. 

The System Administrator proactively monitors system health, performs scheduled maintenance, supports both on-premises and cloud environments, and maintains accurate, timely documentation to ensure compliance, accountability, and continuity of IT operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.System Management & Maintenance

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtual environments, and core IT infrastructure.
  • Perform proactive system monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
  • Execute system updates, patches, and upgrades in accordance with approved maintenance windows and security standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues independently, escalating only when necessary.

2. Network & Security Administration

Administer and maintain:

  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy Objects (GPO)
  • DHCP and DNS services
  • Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and access controls in alignment with least-privilege principles.

Implement, monitor, and maintain:

  • Firewall policies
  • Endpoint protection and antivirus solutions
  • Security hardening standards
  • Review system logs and security alerts; investigate, respond to, and document security incidents.

3. Backup & Disaster Recovery

  • Administer backup systems and ensure regular, verified backups of critical systems and data.
  • Conduct periodic backup validation and restoration tests.
  • Develop, maintain, and update disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity documentation.
  • Participate in DR simulations and post-incident reviews.

4. Support, Collaboration & Documentation

-Provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technical support for infrastructure and system-related issues.

Produce clear, complete, and timely documentation, including:

  • System configurations
  • Change records
  • Incident reports
  • Troubleshooting guides

Maintain accurate ticket updates that reflect:

  • Issue description
  • Actions taken
  • Resolution status

-Collaborate with IT team members and cross-functional teams on system upgrades, projects, and process improvements.

DAILY OPERATIONAL TASKS

System Monitoring & Health Checks

  • Review server health, uptime, performance metrics, and alerts.
  • Validate system availability and address anomalies proactively.

Security & Compliance

  • Monitor security events, logs, and alerts.
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with internal IT and security policies.

User & Account Management

  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts and access rights.
  • Perform routine access reviews and cleanup of inactive accounts.

Technical Support (Tier 1 / 2 / 3)

  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure and system issues.
  • Provide root cause analysis and preventive recommendations.

Maintenance & Housekeeping

  • Perform scheduled patching, updates, cleanup, and system optimization.
  • Validate backups, storage usage, and system integrity.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Update system documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Ensure tickets and reports are accurate, structured, and audit ready.

HOUSEKEEPING RULES

  • Always return peripherals to their proper place when they are not in use.
  • Maintain the equipment's surroundings clean by wiping with a dry cloth or using a vacuum cleaner.
  • Remove all wire connectors not in use.
  • Always update all directories and configurations of the equipment setup.
  • Prepare always the tools, materials, and parts needed for problem troubleshooting (tester, loopback, cables, etc.)
  • Always monitor inventory and check the list of equipment's tools.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Educational background desired: 4-year IT-related bachelor's degree course or at least 2 years IT experience for 2-year IT-related vocational course graduates.

Technical Skills & Work Experience desired:

  • Hands-on experience in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) administration and maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience administering and maintaining Windows Server environments (2016 / 2019 / 2022).
  • Proficiency in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP administration.
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, preferably Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, Routing and switching
  • Experience with WatchGuard firewall administration and security policy configuration.
  • Background in backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
  • Hands-on experience managing endpoint protection and antivirus solutions.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages for task automation and system administration.
  • Experience with patch management and system update processes.
  • Familiarity with system and network monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to IT compliance and security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, or similar).
  • Experience providing Tier 2 / Tier 3 technical support, including handling and resolving escalated IT incidents.

4. Proven discipline in documentation, ticket updates, and record-keeping.

5. Skilled at identifying root causes to resolve and prevent recurring problems

6. Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through on assigned tasks and timelines.

7. Ability to collaborate effectively as a team player while maintaining individual responsibility.

8. Customer-focused mindset; client interaction or customer relationship training is an advantage.

9. Willingness to work during holidays or rest days when business or operational needs require.

10. Strong foundation in system administration and networking fundamentals.

Years of experience desired: 3+ years in system administration or a related role.

Communications skills (English Proficiency) desired: Excellent (at least 7/10) 

MS Office applications proficiency desired: Excellent (at least 8/10)
