ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Payroll Specialist supports the administration of the payroll activities of the client across multiple sites. Responsibilities include business process routing, data governance, data loads, and support for consolidation and future scaling.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Management of Timecards
- Managing Unallocated hours
- Flagging meal period violation
- Tracking & checking of Miles
- Running reports
- Filling out Paysheets
- Calculating wages, benefits, tax deductions, and commissions.
- Processing payroll transactions, including salary adjustments, overtime, and bonuses.
- Maintaining payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
- Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering employee inquiries.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Preparing reports for upper management.
- Collaborating with HR and finance departments.
- Managing payroll tax processes, including Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment taxes.
- Keeping abreast of changes in payroll regulations and best practices
- Responding to tax notices and handling agency correspondence, ensuring timely resolution of tax-related issues.
- Coordinating and maintaining payroll tax registrations across jurisdictions, including setting up new state and local tax accounts as needed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational background required / desired:
- High School Diploma
- Or equivalent to 1 to 3 years of Payroll Background
- Work experience required / desired:
- Proficiency in using spreadsheet software like Excel.
- Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and payroll software
- Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) may be an asset
- Years of experience required / desired:
- 1-3 years
- Communications skills required / desired:
- Excellent in verbal and written communication
- MS Office applications proficiency required / desired:
- Good
- Other qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in numerical data.
