Note: An active Florida Bar license is required. Candidates who have recently taken the Florida Bar exam may be considered with an offer contingent upon passing. Candidates already living in Tampa and committed to building a long-term career in the Tampa area are strongly preferred.

Job Description

  • Represent clients in consumer bankruptcy matters and help guide them through the legal process from consultation through resolution.
  • Conduct client consultations and develop a clear understanding of each client's financial circumstances and legal needs.
  • Research and analyze legal issues and apply bankruptcy law to individual client situations.
  • Prepare and handle motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Participate in 341 meetings, confirmation hearings, and other bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Communicate directly with clients by phone, email, and in person, providing responsive and compassionate legal guidance.
  • Work closely with the attorney and support staff to keep matters organized, moving efficiently, and handled to a high professional standard.
  • Learn all facets of the practice and take on increasing responsibility as your knowledge and confidence grow.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, contribute ideas, and become an increasingly valuable member of the practice.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of professionalism, judgment, ethics, responsiveness, and client service.

Qualifications

  • Active Florida Bar license required; recent Florida Bar takers may be considered contingent upon passing.
  • Bankruptcy experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable interacting directly with clients and handling sensitive financial matters with professionalism and empathy.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, intellectually curious, and eager to learn.
  • High personal and professional standards with strong judgment and character.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully on-site environment.
  • Tampa-area residency and a genuine commitment to remaining in the Tampa area strongly preferred.
