Location

Full-time in Austin, TX. This role starts primarily on-site (office + courthouses), with hybrid flexibility after a probation period for attorneys who consistently demonstrate strong productivity and responsiveness.

Note:

Must have 1+ year of first chair family law litigation experience in Travis, Hays, and Williamson counties (local Austin-area family law experience).

Job Description

  • Manage an active family law caseload involving divorce, custody, support, and related matters
  • First chair contested hearings and support trial preparation, strategy, and courtroom execution
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, orders, decrees, and settlement documentation
  • Conduct discovery (requests, responses, document review) and coordinate case timelines
  • Prepare for and attend mediations, court appearances, and client meetings
  • Communicate with clients in high-conflict situations with confidence, tact, and steadiness
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys while progressing toward full docket ownership

Qualifications

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
  • 1+ year of local family law experience, including first chair work in Travis, Hays, and Williamson counties
  • Comfortable with litigation workflow: hearings, mediation prep, drafting, discovery, and client meetings
  • Reliable, organized, and highly responsive during work hours
  • Strong communication skills with a calm, empathetic presence in stressful situations
  • Preferred familiarity with Clio, Westlaw tools, Microsoft Word/Excel, and Texas family law resources
