Location:

Remote, with flexibility for the right candidate. You must reside within approximately 75 miles of the Seattle/Tacoma area and be available for in-person court appearances and travel to Seattle, Tacoma, Tukwila, and Bellingham, WA.

Note:

An active bar license in good standing in any U.S. state is required; Washington admission is preferred. Recent graduates with pending bar membership may also be considered.

Job Description

  • Manage a caseload of removal defense matters in the Seattle and Tacoma Immigration Courts.
  • Analyze client circumstances, identify legal solutions, and develop effective case strategies.
  • Prepare and litigate asylum, withholding of removal, CAT, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, and other forms of relief.
  • Prepare bond and habeas matters and represent clients during immigration proceedings.
  • Handle family-based immigration matters before USCIS, the Department of State, and consulates.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive motions, briefs, and other filings before immigration courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide clear, culturally responsive legal guidance.
  • Collaborate with and provide direction to administrative staff regarding client needs, case status, and strategy.
  • Travel as needed for court appearances and client representation throughout the Seattle/Tacoma/Bellingham area.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state; Washington preferred.
  • 2+ years of directly relevant immigration attorney experience preferred, but strong candidates with less experience may be considered.
  • Strong legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and client communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Cultural competence and strong cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Spanish or another language is a plus.
  • Ability to travel for in-person court appearances in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
