Insurance Defense Attorney

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

Location: Syracuse, NY | Hybrid. Enjoy a flexible hybrid work environment with meaningful in-office collaboration. New attorneys generally begin with four days onsite per week, with the opportunity to move toward three days as they become established.

Note: Applicants must be licensed to practice law in New York and have substantial civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense. We are particularly interested in attorneys with 3+ years of relevant experience.

Job Description

• Manage insurance defense litigation involving personal injury, premises liability, automobile liability, construction claims, and general liability.
• Develop case strategies, evaluate claims, and work directly with clients and insurance carriers.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and legal memoranda.
• Conduct depositions, attend hearings, and participate in mediations and negotiations.
• Prepare cases for trial and help achieve successful resolutions.

Qualifications

• Active New York State Bar admission in good standing.
• 3+ years of civil litigation experience, ideally focused on insurance defense.
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, depositions, and case management.
• Familiarity with New York civil practice and court procedures.
• Excellent legal writing, communication, and analytical skills.
• New York Labor Law, construction claims, or general liability defense experience is a plus.
