Location: Indianapolis, IN. This position begins on-site during the probationary period so you can integrate with our team and practice. After probation, attorneys enjoy a hybrid schedule with three work-from-home days each week. Candidates must be able to work in Indianapolis, as relocation assistance is not available

Note: Active Indiana State Bar admission in good standing, 1+ year of family law experience in an Indiana practice setting, and demonstrated Indiana courtroom experience are required.

Job Description

  • Manage an active family law caseload from client intake and case evaluation through settlement, hearing, or trial.
  • Represent clients in divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, adoption, guardianship, modification, prenuptial agreement, and related family law matters.
  • Appear at hearings, mediations, depositions, and other court proceedings throughout Marion County and surrounding Indiana jurisdictions.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, agreements, proposed orders, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Develop case strategies and negotiate settlements and parenting arrangements that protect client interests.
  • Counsel clients through sensitive and often high-conflict matters with empathy, professionalism, and clear communication.
  • Maintain organized and accurate case files, billing records, and client communications using MyCase.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on case strategy, client service, and continued practice growth.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active Indiana State Bar license in good standing.
  • 1+ year of directly relevant family law experience in Indiana.
  • Indiana courtroom experience handling hearings, trials, or oral advocacy.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent client communication skills and a professional, empathetic approach.
  • 3+ years of family law experience, Marion County court familiarity, high-conflict custody experience, complex divorce experience, MyCase knowledge, or Spanish proficiency are preferred.
