Location:

Remote within Northern Virginia, with in-person court appearances and depositions as needed. Office space is also available for attorneys who prefer to work in person.

Note:

To be considered, you must be an active member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing, be located in Northern Virginia, and have at least 2 years of directly relevant family law experience.

Job Description

  • Manage family law matters from initial strategy through resolution, including divorce, custody, visitation, support, equitable distribution, enforcement, and modification matters.
  • Develop thoughtful case strategies that prioritize negotiated resolutions and minimize unnecessary conflict.
  • Represent clients in court when necessary with confidence, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Negotiate directly with opposing counsel to pursue favorable and durable outcomes.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, agreements, and other case documents.
  • Communicate proactively and clearly with clients throughout their matters.
  • Help clients focus on practical, long-term solutions during difficult and consequential transitions.
  • Coordinate closely with paralegals and support staff to maintain organized files and meet deadlines.
  • Manage your work independently in a remote environment while staying connected to a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • Active Virginia State Bar license in good standing.
  • 2+ years of directly relevant family law experience.
  • Experience handling divorce, custody, visitation, support, equitable distribution, enforcement, and modification matters.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills with a resolution-focused approach to family law.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, written communication, and client communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage a remote caseload effectively.
  • Located in Northern Virginia and available for required in-person court appearances.
  • Mediation training or collaborative law certification is a plus.
