Location: Chicago, IL — This is an on-site opportunity for attorneys who value close collaboration, direct access to experienced colleagues, and an engaged office environment.

Note: Must be admitted to practice law in Illinois and have experience with medical malpractice defense or medical record review. Direct medical malpractice defense experience is preferred, while candidates with relevant medical record review experience will also be considered.

Job Description

  • Handle and support litigation matters involving medical malpractice and related defense claims.
  • Review and analyze medical records, pleadings, discovery materials, and other case documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Assist with discovery, depositions, hearings, trial preparation, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Evaluate case facts, medical records, liability issues, damages, and potential exposure.
  • Develop case strategies in collaboration with experienced attorneys.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, medical professionals, and other involved parties.
  • Maintain organized case files and effectively manage deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Accurately record time and maintain appropriate billing documentation.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team focused on strong advocacy and excellent client service.

Qualifications

  • Active Illinois Bar license.
  • Attorney experience in litigation.
  • Experience with medical malpractice defense or medical record review.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to review and understand detailed medical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage litigation deadlines.
  • Law firm experience preferred.
  • Attorney billing and timekeeping experience preferred.
