Location:

This is a fully remote position. Candidates may be located anywhere, with South Carolina and the Charlotte, NC area preferred. Occasional in-person closings or client meetings may be required.

Note:

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in South Carolina and have at least 2 years of residential real estate/title law experience with the ability to independently manage transactions.

Job Description

  • Review and examine residential real estate titles from initial search through closing.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve title defects and curative issues.
  • Prepare preliminary and final title opinions.
  • Draft and review deeds, affidavits, powers of attorney, estate documents, releases, and other legal instruments.
  • Advise clients, lenders, title companies, real estate agents, and internal team members on title-related legal matters.
  • Review restrictive covenants, HOA documents, recorded instruments, and underwriting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state laws and title insurance guidelines.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and exceptional client service.
  • Sign Final Title Opinions and other required attorney certifications.
  • Collaborate closely with processors, paralegals, and closing attorneys to move transactions efficiently through closing.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active South Carolina Bar license required.
  • 2+ years of residential real estate/title law experience.
  • Experience handling title review, title opinions, and curative matters.
  • Currently or previously approved by multiple title insurance companies preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and client service skills.
  • Notary Public or willingness to obtain before starting.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
