Location: On-site in Leawood, Kansas. You'll be embedded at the center of a growing regional operation, close to clients, projects, and the team you lead.

Note: Candidates must have 8+ years of commercial construction project management experience. Candidates without a GC or construction management background will not be considered.

Job Description

  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards across your assigned portfolio; set the tone for how work gets done
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with owners, architects, and developers — negotiate, pursue, and secure new business opportunities on behalf of the company
  • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on-site superintendents — keep projects on schedule and on budget, and intervene decisively when situations require it
  • Represent the company in project meetings, client presentations, and project interviews; serve as the senior face of the firm in the field and in the boardroom
  • Manage the financial aspects of contracts — fees, rental equipment, income, expenses — protecting the company's interests while preserving strong client relationships
  • Supervise and mentor project managers and project engineers; invest in their development and hold the team to a high standard
  • Assist in labor negotiations and strategy meetings as needed
  • Support company growth initiatives through participation in business development activities

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive commercial construction project management experience
  • Four-year degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent; equivalent field experience considered
  • Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, estimating, scheduling, and financial management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and develop new business
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior PMs or project engineers
  • Advanced problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills; persuasive, polished, and able to represent the company at the executive level
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific project management software
  • Valid driver's license in good standing required
