Location:

This position is based in Houston, Texas with a hybrid schedule that includes one remote day each week. You will work primarily in-office with the flexibility to choose your remote day.

Note:

Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Texas and have 5+ years of litigation experience. Commercial litigation experience is strongly preferred. Banking, creditor-side disputes, or bankruptcy-related litigation experience is a plus, but not required.

Job Description

  • Handle commercial litigation matters in Texas state and federal courts.
  • Take ownership of litigation files from pleadings and discovery through motion practice, settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, discovery responses, and legal correspondence.
  • Develop case strategy, evaluate risk, and help guide clients through complex business disputes.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, court conferences, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Work directly with partners, clients, opposing counsel, courts, and internal team members.
  • Manage deadlines, discovery, case calendars, and litigation strategy with a high level of professionalism and independence.
  • Work on matters involving business disputes, contracts, financial institutions, creditor rights, real estate, construction, oil and gas, and other commercial litigation issues.
  • Support trial preparation and participate in courtroom advocacy as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Active Texas Bar license required.
  • 5+ years of litigation experience required.
  • Commercial litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience handling litigation matters in Texas state and/or federal court.
  • Strong legal research, writing, drafting, analytical, and case management skills.
  • Ability to manage a docket with appropriate independence while collaborating with partners and team members.
  • Experience with banking, creditor-side litigation, bankruptcy-adjacent matters, financial institutions, or complex business disputes is preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
