Job Description
- Handle civil litigation matters with a focus on insurance defense and related defense litigation.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
- Manage written discovery, document review, case analysis, and factual investigation.
- Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances in Mississippi state and federal courts.
- Work with partners and senior attorneys to evaluate liability, damages, strategy, and case resolution.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and court personnel.
- Support trial preparation, including exhibits, witness preparation, motions in limine, and case strategy.
- Manage deadlines, court filings, billing requirements, and active litigation calendars.
- Take increasing ownership of matters based on experience level and ability to work independently.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Mississippi.
- Litigation experience required.
- Experience in Mississippi state and federal courts required.
- Insurance defense, civil defense, coverage, casualty, transportation, premises liability, professional liability, workers' compensation, or commercial litigation experience strongly preferred.
- Strong legal writing, research, analysis, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines, work collaboratively, and handle matters with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Prior defense billing experience preferred.
