Data Engineer at Global Sourcing Company (Remote, PH-based only)

We are looking for a passionate Data Engineer to join our expanding team, reporting directly to our Head of AI, to work in a remote setup for our Singapore-based client. For this role, we only process candidates that are based in the Philippines, and have legal authorization to work in the Philippines.

Purpose

As a Data Engineer, you'll be a cornerstone of our AI team, playing a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of our data infrastructure. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and maintain robust data pipelines, empowering data-driven decision-making. This role offers the chance to architect and uphold a state-of-the-art cloud-based data platform, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

What you'll be doing

• Designing, building, and maintaining data storage and processing infrastructure
• Developing and managing data pipelines using modern tools and following
• industry best practices
• Ensuring data quality and reliability through comprehensive validation to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Collaborating with product, tech and other internal teams to fully understand business requirements and translate them into pragmatic and effective technical Solutions
• Identifying and implementing process improvements and continuous seeking of new technologies, techniques and methodologies to optimize data flow
• Exploring and implementing cutting-edge AI technology to build and bolster our AI capabilities

Key Qualifications

• End-to-End Data Workflow Expertise: You must have strong experience across the entire data lifecycle, from data and analytics engineering to analysis and visualization, with SQL and Python as core technical skills.
• AWS Cloud Infrastructure Experience: You should be proficient in setting up open-source tools from scratch on AWS, including orchestration tools (Airflow/Dagster or similar), transformation tools (dbt), and BI tools (Superset, Metabase, or similar).
•  AI Application Development: Prefer that you have experience or knowledge in building AI applications using LLMs and interacting with related tools like vector and graph databases. However, at a Metabase you should be adept at Python, eager to quickly learn new technologies, and excited to work with Gen AI.
•  Startup Agility: Can thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment, working independently while effectively collaborating and brainstorming with various stakeholders. You should be comfortable taking ownership of high-level tasks and following through with detailed execution.
