About the job Business Analyst

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • Assist in the identification, evaluation and origination of privately owned companies within Australia and New Zealand across a variety of sectors and niches, including ESG
  • Assist with the collection and preparation of company mapping and presentation materials to present to the growth equity team on deal origination opportunities
  • Assist with the collection and preparation of sector specific news, and any other sector information relating to private companies in Australia and New Zealand i.e. investments made by private equity / venture capital / trade, or other related sector and market news
  • Undertake market research and focused research tasks, relating to specific businesses, sectors or niches
  • Assist with any client reporting requirements, including coordinating with middle and back-office support functions

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare a list of businesses within the target niche using the Roc Partners Origination mapping template, and populate it with relevant information gathered from a combination of Google, Lusha, RocketReach, ZoomInfo, and other systems where required.
  • Prepare a fortnightly list of sector specific news relating to investments made by Private Equity/ Venture Capital, listed companies, or trade, in Australia and the Asia Pacific Region. Capturing the investment sector and niche information using a combination of Google, Mergermarket, general publications, and/or Capital IQ,
  • Prepare and populate sector and niche specific information, with a focus on target niches. This information will be used to assist in the presentation of new niches at the Growth Team fortnightly Origination meetings.

CAPABILITIES

  • Motivation to work across multiple sectors including, but not specific to, healthcare, business services, technology, consumer, and ESG
  • Sound understanding of business and financial concepts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to articulate opinions and prepare clear and concise investment materials
  • Highly organised, hardworking, dependable, attention to detail and persistent
  • Personable, having a style which lends itself to working in a collaborative team environment and able to build strong relationships with advisers and entrepreneurs / business owners
  • Proficiency in excel and data sourcing needed

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in an investment focused role i.e. investment banking, management consulting, transaction advisory services or private equity
