About the role

The role of the Financial Controller at Umart Group is both pivotal and multifaceted. Located in the Philippines but deeply ingrained with our Australian operations, this position is the critical bridge linking intricate financial details to the broader strategic vision of the company.

Candidates in this role must have an excellent understanding of Australian GST and taxation intricacies, ensuring a smooth and compliant financial operation spanning both countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the operations of the accounting and finance departments.

  • Monitor budget variances, reporting discrepancies, and making recommendations to enhance financial efficiency.

  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of all financial statements, including detailed monthly and year-end closing reports.

  • Handle comprehensive financial and board reporting, ensuring compliance with ATO requirements.

  • Evaluate company performance against both internal objectives and industry benchmarks.

  • Supervise the annual budgeting and financial forecasting processes.

  • Safeguard the company's adherence to statutory law, financial guidelines, and tax regulations specific to Australian GST.

  • Regularly update and maintain accounting procedures and policies to reflect best practices.

  • Resolve complex accounting challenges and liaise with external auditors for regular reviews.

  • Explore opportunities to refine business operations, control expenditures, and recommend strategies to improve financial health.

  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership team to deliver analytical reports, discuss potential risk factors, and identify financial opportunities.

This role demands synergy across various departments, ranging from marketing to HR to logistics. Establishing and nurturing relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banking partners, and technology solution providers, is essential.

While the responsibilities listed provide a structured overview of the role, the Financial Controller will also undertake other related tasks and projects as directed by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is essential.

  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years in a Financial Controller or similar role.

  • Strong experience dealing with Australian clients and Australian financial regulations.
