Overall Purpose

To provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the organisation's health and safety function. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Health & Safety Manager will ensure the highest standards of safety for employees, passengers, and the wider community through robust policies, proactive risk management, and a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety strategies, plans, policies, and procedures in line with legal requirements and recognized industry best practice.

• Implement appropriate controls and conduct necessary checks to ensure full compliance with established safety systems.

• Continuously monitor organizational adherence to health and safety regulations and internal standards.

• Lead detailed investigations into workplace incidents and accidents, ensuring accurate reporting, root cause analysis, and effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Prepare incident and accident reports, analyze data to identify trends, and recommend measures to mitigate risks.

• Provide expert advice, guidance, and support to management teams and employees on all health and safety matters.

• Coordinate and deliver health and safety training across all levels to promote awareness, competence, and a positive safety culture.

• Lead the planning and execution of audits and risk assessments across the organization, ensuring findings are actioned and tracked to completion.

• Collaborate with external agencies, regulatory bodies, and emergency services as required.

• Present regular updates and performance reports to senior management on safety performance, risks, and areas for improvement.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes and ensure organizational policies and practices remain compliant.

• Champion wellbeing and mental health initiatives within the workplace.

• Conduct required checks, including alcohol and drug testing of employees, as necessary.

• Develop, implement, and maintain an ISO-compliant Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with relevant safety and quality standards.
