About the job Head of Sales

Our client, a leading and award-winning winery in Malta, is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Sales to lead and develop their national sales team. This pivotal role reports directly to the companys Directors and requires close collaboration with all internal departments to meet sales targets and align with the companys strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Area Sales Managers, Sales Representatives, Merchandisers, and Promoters

  • Oversee recruitment, succession planning, training, coaching, and performance appraisals of all sales personnel

  • Develop and implement effective incentive schemes for sales staff

Sales Strategy & Forecasting:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies (online and offline), set sales objectives, and manage forecasting

  • Analyse sales data to drive growth, increase market share, and support profitability

  • Lead territory planning, route optimization, and customer segmentation

Sales Operations & Commercial Planning:

  • Manage product mix, offers, promotions, pricing, and discount strategies

  • Support the development of an annual promotional calendar and customer engagement strategies

  • Maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities

  • Assist with handling returns, damaged goods, and customer complaints

Collaboration & Representation:

  • Collaborate with Directors on key strategic initiatives, including remuneration planning and new product development

  • Represent the winery as a brand ambassador at trade events, industry functions, and international shows when required

  • Support public and press relations, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and opinion leaders

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior sales or management role, ideally within FMCG or a related environment

  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and analytical skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities

  • University degree preferred
