We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at a distinctive hospitality venue in Mellieħa. This role involves supporting the Head Chef in delivering high-quality dining experiences that align with the venue's themed events and seasonal offerings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mediterranean and barbecue cuisine and a flair for creativity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing diverse menus for daily operations and special events, including weddings, corporate functions, and themed dinners.

  • Oversee kitchen operations, ensuring consistency and quality in food preparation and presentation.

  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain cost control measures.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.

  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team.

  • Collaborate with the events team to tailor menus that enhance guest experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen.

  • Strong knowledge of Mediterranean and barbecue cooking techniques.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Formal culinary training or equivalent experience is preferred.
