Commis Chef (Breakfast Shift)

Job Overview:

The Commis Chef is an entry-level position in the kitchen responsible for assisting with basic food preparation tasks and maintaining high standards of hygiene and organization. This role provides a foundation for developing culinary skills and gaining experience working in a professional kitchen under the guidance of more senior chefs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of food under the supervision of senior chefs

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations

  • Measure, prepare, and organize ingredients as directed

  • Follow recipes and presentation standards

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations

  • Support the kitchen team with daily tasks and cleaning duties

  • Store ingredients and food items properly

  • Assist with receiving and checking deliveries

  • Learn and develop culinary techniques and kitchen procedures

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene

  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced kitchen environment

  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is a plus

  • Previous experience in a kitchen (even as a trainee or intern) is beneficial but not required
