Job Overview:
The Commis Chef is an entry-level position in the kitchen responsible for assisting with basic food preparation tasks and maintaining high standards of hygiene and organization. This role provides a foundation for developing culinary skills and gaining experience working in a professional kitchen under the guidance of more senior chefs.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and cooking of food under the supervision of senior chefs

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations

Measure, prepare, and organize ingredients as directed

Follow recipes and presentation standards

Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations

Support the kitchen team with daily tasks and cleaning duties

Store ingredients and food items properly

Assist with receiving and checking deliveries

Learn and develop culinary techniques and kitchen procedures
Requirements:

Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene

Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team

Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is a plus

Previous experience in a kitchen (even as a trainee or intern) is beneficial but not required
