Role Overview:
The Audit & Accounts Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing the delivery of audit and accounting assignments from planning through to completion. This role requires both strong technical expertise and effective people management skills. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in client relationship management, quality assurance, and staff development. You will be working within a supportive environment where youll be encouraged to develop and progress. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied portfolio of audit and accounts clients, ensuring high-quality delivery within deadlines and budgets.
- Plan audit and accounts assignments, overseeing the execution of fieldwork and reviewing work completed by the team.
- Allocate responsibilities, provide guidance to junior staff, and support their technical development.
- Prepare and finalise statutory financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP.
- Maintain active communication with clients, providing updates, addressing queries, and offering value-added insights.
- Contribute to proposals and pricing for potential new clients or expanded engagements.
About You:
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
- 2 years + Manager experience in audit (70%) and accounts (30%) within a UK accountancy practice.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a client portfolio independently.
- Experience supervising and reviewing the work of junior staff.
- Proficiency in using audit and accounting software (CCH Accounts Production, CCH Audit Automation), Outlook and CCH Practice Management.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and auditing regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Organised, with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Confident in client-facing situations, with a professional and approachable manner.
- Proactive, solution-focused, and commercially aware.
