Job Openings Showrunner & Sr Producer (Contract)

About the job Showrunner & Sr Producer (Contract)

Our Work:

ParentsTogether is a cutting-edge nonprofit impact media organization that reaches 1 in 3 parents in the US with useful, relatable content that families love. We meet overwhelmed parents where they are with news, resources, and entertainment that help them navigate the highs and lows of raising kids today, while at the same time building a community united around a core idea: Parents are powerful and together we can help all families thrive.

Founded in 2012, today ParentsTogether has over 3 million members and reaches tens of millions more parents through social media, online issue organizing, and civic engagement.

About The Dads Initiative:

The Dads Initiative is a media and civic engagement project, being incubated at impact media organization ParentsTogether. We are building original digital content that meets fathers at the intersection of their interests – sports, the outdoors, fitness, finance, etc – and their self-perceptions as fathers, with the goal of connecting those conversations to the bigger questions of family, community, and democracy. This isn’t about a single channel; it’s about crafting spaces across media that expand our reach and further our impact. We’re making shows for dads, by people who get them, in service of building the world our kids deserve.

We're a small, experimental, fast-moving team. If you've spent your career waiting for permission to try something new, you'll feel at home here.

Opportunity Overview:

We're looking for a creative force who can manage our content operation — everything from strategic thinking down to overseeing the production schedule and the talent needed to execute. You'll develop original show concepts, shepherd them into production, and manage the creators and contractors who bring them to life. You're equally comfortable in a strategy doc and a production timeline, and you have the editorial instincts to know what's going to land with a 35-year-old dad scrolling TikTok at 9pm.

This role isn't for someone who needs a large team around them to do their best work. It's for someone who thrives with ownership, moves fast, and wants to build something meaningful from scratch.

Scope of Work:

The contractor will:

  • Strategy & Development Partner with the leadership team to develop the content strategy across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and potentially podcast formats. Identify emerging formats and platform trends, pressure-test new show concepts, and build the creative framework for what The Dads Initiative makes and why. You'll write show briefs and pitch decks that give creators and collaborators what they need to execute.

  • Production Leadership Serve as the showrunner across all original programming. This means overseeing the production process end-to-end — from concept through publication — even when others are doing the hands-on work. You'll manage a roster of on-camera talent, editors, and other contractors, keeping everyone on schedule and holding the line on quality and creative consistency.

  • Scheduling & Operations Own the publication calendar and production schedule for all shows and content. You'll build systems that keep production humming — managing deadlines, coordinating across collaborators, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. This includes hands-on social media account management: scheduling, posting, and basic community oversight, particularly in the early phase as we scale the team.

  • AI-Powered Execution You actively use AI tools in your workflow — for audience research, content ideation, brief generation, and finding efficiencies in production and distribution. You're not just curious about AI; you've already figured out how to make it actually useful, and you'll help the team do the same.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in digital content production, social media strategy, or a related field, with a preference for experience in a media company, creator studio, agency, or early stage startup environment. Demonstrated ownership of end to end content or show production.

  • Proven experience developing original concepts for short form and or long form video content.

  • Experience managing creators, contractors, or production teams, including coordinating workflows and deliverables.

  • Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and maintain content calendars at scale across multiple platforms.

  • Hands-on experience producing and distributing content across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube.

  • Practical fluency with AI tools in a content creation or production context.

  • Demonstrated understanding of audience engagement, with the ability to effectively reach and retain a male 28 to 45 demographic. Experience in sports, outdoor, finance, or lifestyle media is preferred.

  • Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to translate early stage ideas into clear and actionable briefs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across both creative and operational stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated willingness to experiment with new formats, iterate quickly, and apply learnings from performance data.
