Main Purpose

Projects manager overlooking Ethiopia and Nigeria Projects agenda, while leveraging experience to build Technical Engineering and Project management capabilities in WECA to handle Major growth projects to support the region in delivering required Growth and Expansion agenda through Leading WECA strategic projects agenda & govern full project management lifecycle for all capital related projects including development of capacity charts option analysis, site selection, tendering through global procurement team, capex writ-up, Equipment selection, Consultants & supplier screening and evaluation , projects Capital budget governance, contracts management with foreign/local suppliers, assign the project team, lead the project execution, and site activities delivering professional progress reports to the senior management and handover the project to the stakeholders on time ensuring implementation of all safety, quality and engineering standards.

Knowledge:

  • FMCG or pharmaceutical background, preferably in project management, maintenance or engineering.
  • Project management experience, Proven record of managing Fast-track projects.
  • Strong knowledge of major project master planning and facility design principals.
  • Engineering design & construction management- Strong understanding of equipment selection, Layout design, utilities integration, and construction execution.
  • Solid understanding of Hygienic design fundamentals.
  • Project controls- Skilled in budgeting, cost tracking, scheduling, and reporting project performance vs KPIs.
  • Procurement & contracting- Experienced in managing technical tenders, suppliers' evaluation, and contract negotiations.
  • Capex planning & governance- Deep knowledge of capital investment cycles, financial justifications &governance process.
  • Operational readiness- Ability to ensure new equipment, lines & facilities meet all safety, quality and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • WECA Snacks Projects overall deliverables and KPI's.
  • Manages WECA projects teams to deliver projects cost, quality, scope and timeline targets.
  • Explore and leverage local suppliers and resources to build individual MU local OEM's support & Projects local supply networks.
  • Ensure all capital expenditures projects are being executed on time and within agreed to scope and performance outcome criteria.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control of installation and erection.
  • Keep financial track of capital expenditure and report it to the Engineering Manager.
  • Participate in the execution and Capex development of the sustainability, safety and productivity projects
  • Coordinate site contractors' activities with consultants, safety and food safety representatives.
  • Reviews invoices and bill of quantities to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Follow up contractor progress in the site Vs the project timeline and update the project Gantt charts on weekly basis.
  • Review and approve contractor technical submittals and review the workshop drawings.
  • Coordinate different site layouts and drawings (Civil, Mechanical & Electrical)
  • Participate in site surveys and participate in design drawings.
  • Conformity to Standards, Finish Quality.
  • Adherence to project delivery dates.
  • Adherence to Bill of quantity and specifications.
  • Compliance with food safety requirements.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • Mechanical, civil and electrical engineering.
  • Excellent knowledge of Project management.
  • Good planning and organizations skills.
  • Communication and Influence Skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Technical contract background.

Education:

  • Degree in Mechanical / Electrical or Civil Engineering from Reputable University.
  • PMP Certification is a Plus.
  • Finance Knowledge is a Plus.

Prior Work Experience:

  • 5-7 years of relative Site Project management experience & overall 8-10 years Engineering Experience.

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
