Job brief

On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced and strategic Tax Manager to lead the company's tax function. The position plays a critical role in ensuring tax compliance, optimizing tax costs, and managing tax-related risks while supporting the broader finance leadership team.

The successful candidate will work cross-functionally across departments and manage external stakeholders to ensure efficient and compliant tax operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Review and update internal policies related to Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax, Excise Tax, Stamp Duty, Profit Tax, and other applicable taxes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and submissions.
  • Manage group and statutory tax reporting requirements.
  • Review current and deferred tax provisions for management reporting and IFRS compliance.

2. Risk Management & Tax Cost Optimization

  • Optimize tax liabilities through informed application of tax laws and regulations.
  • Lead all external tax audit engagements and ensure timely, accurate documentation submission.
  • Establish and strengthen systems and processes for tax risk management.
  • Conduct proactive compliance reviews (tax health checks) in high-risk areas.

3. Stakeholder Management

  • Provide regular updates to business leadership on tax developments and implications.
  • Represent the company in industry and professional tax associations.
  • Serve as a business partner to management and Finance Heads of Departments (HODs) on tax advisory and operational support matters.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Finance (or equivalent qualification).
  • Minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in tax management, preferably within the FMCG sector.
  • Strong knowledge of local tax laws and IFRS reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience in managing tax audits and regulatory engagement.
