About the job AU Tax Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced AU Tax Accountant to join our clients accounting firm in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and managing a wide range of taxation and compliance requirements, while also supporting clients with tax planning, advisory, and structuring strategies.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies in compliance with ATO requirements.

Manage Business Activity Statements (BAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and Goods & Services Tax (GST) reporting.

Conduct tax planning and advisory services to optimize clients financial outcomes.

Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies regarding audits, assessments, and queries.

Stay updated with changes in Australian tax legislation and ensure compliance for clients.

Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.

Provide support in tax structuring, compliance reviews, and process improvements.

Mentor and support junior team members when required.
Qualifications & Skills

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CA/CPA qualified or working towards is highly regarded).

3+ years of experience in Australian taxation, preferably within a public accounting or professional services firm.

Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws, compliance requirements, and accounting standards.

Hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns (individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships).

Proficiency in accounting/tax software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or APS.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with clients and regulatory bodies effectively.
