We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper with solid experience using Xero and knowledge of Australian payroll and tax requirements, particularly PAYG withholding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations for our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily bookkeeping duties, including bank reconciliations, invoicing, and journal entries in Xero.
- Process accounts payable and receivable and manage supplier payments.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and handle GST and PAYG obligations in compliance with ATO regulations.
- Manage payroll processing, including superannuation, leave accruals, and STP (Single Touch Payroll) reporting.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and support month-end reporting.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and petty cash.
- Work closely with external accountants and auditors as required.
- Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and tax legislation.
Role Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role in Australia.

Strong working knowledge of Xero Accounting Software is essential.

Solid understanding of PAYG, GST, and other ATO requirements.

Payroll processing experience, including superannuation and STP compliance.

High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.

Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:

Cert IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting (or higher qualification).

Registered BAS Agent (desirable but not essential).

Experience working with small to medium businesses across multiple industries.
