DESCRIPTION

  • Leads the perinatal Hepatitis B program and works with the Senior Public Health Investigators to monitor surveillance systems and other data sources to ensure all HBsAg positive pregnant women are identified. 
  • Conducts educational training with hospital staff on how properly report HBsAg positive pregnant women to the health authority.
  • Leads vaccine program provider compliance and quality improvement teams. Will perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and comply with AP 2-2 policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • KNOWLEDGE: Requires graduation from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science degree in nursing is preferred. Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas
  • EXPERIENCE: Four years of experience as a practicing registered nurse are required . A Master of Science degree in Nursing and two years of experience in general nursing, including one year of supervisory experience, may be substituted for the experience requirement.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of a video display terminal.
  • PHYSICAL SKILL: Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderately demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements.
