About the Role:
Were looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations and drive continuous improvement. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a production and fabrication environment, understands how to balance inventory accuracy, budget, and customer demand, and has the leadership skills to align cross-functional teams.You'll oversee production planning, inventory control, and daily plant operations while ensuring efficiency, safety, and high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead production planning, scheduling, and capacity alignment with plant needs.
- Manage physical inventory for a large plant (200+ employees, multiple shifts).
- Oversee cycle counts and resolve discrepancies, including backlog orders and sales prioritization.
- Partner closely with Plant Manager and Sales teams to align orders, budgets, and production goals.
- Drive OTD (on-time delivery) metrics, targeting 95%+ customer fulfillment.
- Establish and sustain standard lead times across operations.
- Apply the 80/20 rule and continuous improvement practices to reduce production times and increase efficiency.
- Support new supervisors by picking up overflow tasks, coaching, and mentoring.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems (including PPAP, supplier onboarding, and compliance).
- Source and manage materials, particularly steel fabrication supplies.
- Ensure a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years production planning/scheduling in a manufacturing setting.
- 2+ years managing quality systems, teams, and supplier quality programs.
- Proven inventory management experience (cycle counting, reconciliation, backlog resolution).
- Strong Excel/technical data skills and ability to leverage ERP/MRP systems for decision-making.
- Bachelors degree required (manufacturing, supply chain, or related).
- Experience in fabrication and material sourcing highly preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma background strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and lead teams through change.
- Flexible to work OT/weekends as needed.
