About the Role

Our client, a pioneering storage software company, is seeking a Senior Linux Support Engineer to join their global support team. This role focuses on providing expert technical support for customers using the company's custom Linux-based storage software.

As a Senior Linux Support Engineer, you will assist customers with setup, troubleshooting, and optimization of Linux systems, while also participating in technical research and contributing to the company's technical content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-depth Linux system support via Zendesk, assisting with installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze network, storage, and CPU performance using tools like iperf, iostat, fio, htop, and Wireshark.
  • Automate tasks using Bash, Python, or Perl, leveraging tools like grep, sed, and awk for log parsing and data manipulation.
  • Manage SSH key-based authentication, VLAN configurations, and understand storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB).
  • Research and document Linux system optimizations for the companys knowledge base.
  • Communicate technical solutions clearly, including handling difficult customer interactions.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Strong Linux system administration experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of scripting, networking, and storage management.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox/KVM).
  • Experience with customer support tools like Zendesk.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
