Our client is a prominent Accounting firm based in Sydney, Australia - looking to expand their team. The Senior Accountant is tasked with various responsibilities aimed at meeting the client's Business Services needs. The primary objective is to deliver high-quality work within specified timeframes to a diverse range of clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare income tax returns, financial statements, and Activity Statements (BAS/IAS) for various entities, including individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts.
  • Address business-related matters for clients, such as fringe benefits tax, tax planning, interim work, and assessment notices.
  • Offer taxation and financial advice to a wide array of clients, including companies, individuals, partnerships, and SMSFs.
  • Calculate Small Business CGT concessions, FBT, Div. 7a, and GST reconciliations.
  • Summarize and create Taxable Payments Annual Reports (TPAR).
  • Manage bookkeeping, payroll, and account reconciliation, including fixed assets.
  • Prepare additional workpapers and reports as requested by management, clients, or other stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to junior and intermediate accountants, as well as colleagues.
  • Utilize software like Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, APS, Handisoft, or equivalent Australian tools.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships, attending meetings as needed and serving as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as an offshore accountant in an Australian accounting firm, with at least 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.

  • Proven experience mentoring, supervising, or providing guidance to junior accountants.

  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, APS, Handisoft, or equivalent Australian tax compliance software.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills for interactions with Australian professional staff and clients.

  • Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Effective task and time management skills, including adherence to job budgets and productivity targets.
