Assistant Cook/Commis chefs - BHH

PHRS Hospitality Experts is currently looking for motivated and experienced Assistant Cooks / Commis Chefs to join the culinary team of a new 5-star luxury hotel opening in Bosnia & Herzegovina in December 2026.

About the Role

As an Assistant Cook / Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen team in preparing and delivering high-quality dishes while maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and presentation standards.

You will work closely with senior chefs, assisting with daily kitchen operations, food preparation, and service while gaining valuable experience in a luxury hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs with daily food preparation and cooking activities.
• Prepare ingredients, mise en place, and basic dishes according to established recipes.
• Support different kitchen sections as required.
• Ensure food is prepared and presented according to quality standards.
• Follow instructions from the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and other senior culinary team members.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene throughout kitchen areas.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food products.
• Follow food safety, HACCP, and sanitation procedures.
• Assist with inventory control and minimizing food waste.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and workstations in good condition.
• Support the culinary team during busy service periods.
• Participate in training and pre-opening kitchen preparation activities.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Assistant Cook, Commis Chef, or similar culinary position, preferably in a hotel, restaurant, or professional kitchen.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established kitchen standards.
• Strong teamwork, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
• Previous luxury hotel or international hospitality experience is an advantage.
• Willingness to relocate to Bosnia & Herzegovina.
• Candidates who can travel without requiring a visa will be prioritized.
