Position: New Business Builder (Founding Member) – Japan

Empowering local partners, globally. Delighting global tourists, locally. Pie Systems is building a data-driven platform that connects global tourists with local businesses. Starting from our tax-free solution PIE VAT, we are expanding into a broader inbound platform that enhances tourist experiences while directly driving revenue for local partners.

PGE (Platform Growth & Enablement) is a newly formed team with a mission to transform PIE VAT from a tax-free app into a full-scale inbound platform.
As a founding member, you will not just execute but you will help define:
- What we build
- How we monetize
- How we scale
This role spans from building new businesses from scratch to scaling them.
What you'll do
You will operate as a venture builder inside the company, owning outcomes end-to-end.
Build new business
- Design platform-based solutions (value proposition, pricing, delivery model)
- Turn ideas into scalable revenue streams
Develop partnerships
- Identify and onboard local partners
- Lead negotiations, contracts, and PoC execution
Drive go-to-market
- Create sales materials and offerings
- Lead execution from proposal to delivery
Own metrics & performance
- Define KPIs and unit economics
- Build dashboards and drive data-informed decisions
Enable scale
- Standardize operations into playbooks and processes
- Build repeatable systems for growth
Work cross-functionally
- Collaborate with Product, Merchant, Tourist, and Corporate teams
- Drive initiatives from idea to implementation
What we're looking for
Must-have
- Business-level fluency in Japanese and English
- 3+ years in one or more of:
- Business development / partnerships
- Consulting / PMO
- Growth / marketing / ads
- Product or operations
- Strong commercial skills (proposal, negotiation, deal execution)
- Data-driven mindset (KPI / financial analysis)
- High ownership and get things done attitude
- Eligible to work in Japan
Nice to have
- Startup or high-growth experience (new business creation and scaling)
- Industry exposure (travel, retail, payments, marketing)
- Experience working with product teams (Agile, prioritization)
- Additional languages (Chinese, Korean, etc.)
- Experience building processes from scratch
Working conditions
- Employment: Full-time (flexible)
- Location: Tokyo (remote-friendly with occasional office visits)
