Pinaka Technology Solutions brings this opportunity through a Defence Prime and is seeking experienced Defence doctrine authors, military technical writers and land combat subject matter experts to support the LAND 907 Armoured Combat Doctrine work package.
The engagement will deliver updated Army doctrine supporting the upgraded Main Battle Tank and the introduction of Combat Engineering Vehicles. This is a deliverables-based engagement structured around defined milestones.
Scope of work
The successful contractor or delivery team will review and update doctrine covering:
- Mounted combat tactics and tank regiment operations
- Abrams gunnery
- Combat engineering and employment of engineers
- Mines, explosive hazards and threat-device reduction
- Route and area clearance
- Combined-arms obstacle breaching
- Gap crossing and tactical obstacle integration
- Formation tactics and urban operations
- Land range orders and explosive practices
- Recovery operations
- Armoured infantry, cavalry and related Armoured Fighting Vehicle capabilities
The complete work package includes 23 prioritised doctrine deliverables.
Key responsibilities
- Review existing Army doctrine, policy and supporting material.
- Research and incorporate LAND 907 capability changes.
- Draft and update doctrine in accordance with Army doctrine-development processes.
- Consult with Defence stakeholders and relevant subject matter experts.
- Manage review comments, working papers and supporting evidence.
- Participate in governance, milestone-review and assurance activities.
- Apply effective quality assurance and document-control processes.
- Deliver draft and final doctrine products in editable Defence-approved formats.
- Support knowledge transfer, handover and remediation where required.
Experience sought
Strong applicants will demonstrate:
- Experience developing, reviewing or authoring Defence doctrine, military policy or comparable technical publications.
- Knowledge of Australian Army land combat operations and doctrine-development processes.
- Relevant expertise in armour, mounted combat, combat engineering, combined-arms operations or Armoured Fighting Vehicle capabilities.
- Experience supporting Defence or another Commonwealth entity.
- Strong stakeholder consultation, research, analysis and technical-writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet milestone-based deadlines.
- A practical approach to quality assurance, peer review and configuration control.
- Relevant military, professional or tertiary qualifications.
Experience with LAND 907, Abrams platforms, Combat Engineering Vehicles, Royal Australian Engineers or Army capability-development environments will be highly regarded.
Mandatory requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold and maintain a minimum active NV1 Australian Government security clearance before commencing.
- Be capable of obtaining and maintaining NV2 or PV clearance if subsequently required by Defence.
- Meet Defence security, integrity, conduct and onboarding requirements.
- Disclose relevant previous Defence employment, ADF service, Reserve service or Defence contracting arrangements.
- Disclose any actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest.
- Be available to work from Russell, ACT, as required.
- Be available for approved work-related travel if required.
