Job Details

The AEC requires five Senior Business Analysts to join the Funding and Disclosure Reform Program. These roles will support agile project teams by facilitating analysis, stakeholder engagement, process improvement, and solution definition for complex legislative and regulatory reform initiatives.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis activities through pre-discovery to delivery phases

  • Conduct user interviews, document business problems, and analyse root causes

  • Design and facilitate stakeholder workshops and interviews

  • Develop partnerships with stakeholder groups to foster productive environments

  • Translate business needs into outcomes and problem statements

  • Communicate with clarity and evaluate risks in dynamic environments

  • Mentor and upskill less experienced team members

  • Support policy formulation and project management functions

  • Participate in agile team collaboration to achieve common goals

  • Perform additional duties as required


Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria

  1. Five plus years experience as a Business Analyst

    • Demonstrated excellence in business writing and documentation

  2. Skilled in writing, refining, and managing user stories and acceptance criteria in Agile frameworks (Scrum or SAFe)

    • Ensure solutions meet regulatory, legislative, and industry standards

  3. Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical users

    • Translate between business and technical language

  4. Proven delivery of high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines

    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  5. Ability to identify and implement process improvements

    • Influence and negotiate with complex stakeholders

  6. Experience mentoring junior team members

    • Personal integrity in achieving outcomes within legislative bounds

Desirable Criteria

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience

  2. Exposure to ServiceNow and bespoke applications

  3. Understanding of system integration analysis

  4. Ability to gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice
