Australian citizenship and a current Positive Vetting (PV) or Top Secret Privileged Access (TS-PA) security clearance are mandatory.
Pinaka Technology Solutions is seeking an experienced Specialist Engineer – Capability Definition Document Development for a long-term engagement supporting Defence Intelligence capability.
This opportunity is being delivered via a Defence Prime and will support the Geospatial Collection Systems function within Defence Intelligence Group.
The role will contribute to capability development, engineering analysis and strategic planning for complex geospatial and intelligence capabilities supporting the Australian Defence Force, National Intelligence Community and broader Whole-of-Government stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Capability Definition Documents, business cases, concept documentation and related capability artefacts
- Analyse and define capability requirements aligned with Defence strategic objectives, operational needs and future priorities
- Assess technical opportunities, risks, dependencies, constraints and delivery options
- Contribute to capability planning, capability design and future capability development
- Provide engineering advice supporting Defence investment planning and capability decision-making
- Support Defence capability approval processes
- Translate complex technical and geospatial information into clear, decision-ready material for senior executives and governance forums
- Prepare technical assessments, briefs, discussion papers and other supporting documentation
- Engage with technical, operational and senior stakeholder groups across Defence
About You
We are looking for a senior engineering professional who can demonstrate:
- Relevant engineering qualifications and/or professional membership
- Strong experience delivering projects within Defence
- Experience in capability definition, capability development or Defence investment planning
- Knowledge of Defence Capability System processes
- Understanding of the Australian National Intelligence Community
- Awareness of the domestic and international geospatial and intelligence landscape
- Understanding of emerging technologies including space systems, artificial intelligence and advanced data capabilities
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to translate technically complex information for non-technical and senior audiences
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills within complex Defence environments
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be an Australian Citizen
- Currently hold a PV or TS-PA security clearance
- Be based in the ACT region
- Be available to work onsite at Brindabella Business Park, Majura, five days per week, unless otherwise approved by Defence
- Successfully undertake a Defence Intelligence Suitability Assessment (DISA)
- Complete required confidentiality and Defence Intelligence Group training requirements
Limited work-from-home arrangements may be considered by Defence, however fully remote work outside the ACT region is not available.

Initial Contract End: 19 October 2029
Extension Options: Up to 2 × 12 months

Security: Current PV or TS-PA mandatory
