Job Summary
A reputed foundry unit in Bhilai is hiring a Foundry Lab Technician to lead metallurgical testing and spectrometry operations. This role is critical to quality control and process monitoring, ensuring accurate chemical composition and compliance with casting specifications. Candidates must have hands-on experience with optical emission spectrometry (OES) and basic metallurgical testing methods.

Role Overview
The technician will operate spectrometry equipment, conduct metallurgical tests, and ensure compliance with chemical specifications. The ideal candidate is someone who has single-handedly managed a chemical lab and is confident in handling spectrometry and metallurgical testing independently. This role is critical to maintaining casting quality and supporting production with timely lab reports.

Eligibility
  • Qualification: Diploma or B.Sc. in Chemistry / Metallurgy
  • Experience: Minimum 4-5 years in metallurgical lab (foundry or steel plant preferred)
  • Skills Required:
  1. Proficiency in spectrometry (OES/XRF)
  2. Knowledge of wet chemistry and mechanical testing
  3. Familiarity with ferrous and non-ferrous alloy standards
  4. Strong documentation and audit-readiness
  5. Ability to interpret spectrometer results and suggest corrective actions

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain spectrometer equipment for chemical analysis
  • Conduct wet chemistry tests, hardness checks, and sand testing
  • Prepare and maintain test certificates, lab reports, and composition logs
  • Calibrate lab instruments and ensure proper upkeep
  • Provide real-time feedback to production teams on metal composition
  • Maintain lab inventory and coordinate procurement of consumables
  • Support internal audits and customer inspections
  • Ensure lab safety and compliance with ISO/quality norms

Preferred Region
Candidates from Bhilai, Durg, Raipur, or nearby industrial zones are preferred.
