About the job Financial Controller
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Financial Controller to manage the financial operations of a UK-based financial advisory company from our Botswana office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in an international environment, providing high-level financial oversight and support to a UK finance team while ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with UK accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP).
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
- Ensure compliance with UK financial and tax requirements.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial systems.
- Liaise with UK management, auditors, and external advisors.
- Provide financial analysis and insight to support decision-making by the UK Finance team.
- Supervise and support local finance administration where required.
Qualifications & Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (a professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA is preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a financial management or controllership role.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and statutory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge and/experience of UK accounting standards, tax, and statutory regulations will be an added advantage
- Experience working with international teams or across borders will be an advantage.
