Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial planning, analysis, and risk management efforts. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will guide the companys financial strategy to support growth, ensure compliance, and maximize profitability.
Responsibilities
- Develop financial strategies to support retail expansion, supply chain optimization, and margin improvement
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Align financial goals with sales, operations, and procurement functions
- Monitor gross margins, product-level profitability, and cost of goods sold (COGS)
- Identify areas to reduce costs in procurement, warehousing, logistics, and in-store operations
- Drive pricing strategy and discount policies in collaboration with commercial teams
- Oversee cash flow to ensure liquidity for operations, supplier payments, and stock replenishment
- Manage working capital (inventory, receivables, payables) closely to avoid cash lock-ups
- Optimize payment terms with suppliers and collection cycles with customers (for B2B distribution)
- Partner with operations to improve inventory turnover and avoid overstock or stockouts
- Analyze data to minimize holding costs and maximize shelf productivity
- Support technology adoption (e.g., ERP, inventory management tools) to gain real-time visibility
- Track financial performance by store, region, product category, or channel (online/offline)
- Measure and improve ROI on marketing, promotions, and store expansions
- Benchmark performance against competitors and industry KPIs
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Maintain compliance with VAT, audit requirements, and local financial regulations
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
- Champion digital transformation across finance, POS, warehousing, and procurement
- Leverage data and analytics for smarter forecasting, pricing, and demand planning
- Ensure tight integration between finance systems and retail/distribution platforms
- Work closely with the CEO, COO, and Commercial Directors on strategic decision-making
- Lead and develop finance teams including FP&A, accounting, and procurement control
- Advise on M&A opportunities, new store locations, or market entry strategies
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Strong knowledge of corporate finance, financial modeling, and regulatory frameworks
- Proven experience in budgeting, cash flow management, and strategic planning
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in Retail Groceries/Supermarkets
- Familiarity with ERP and financial management software
