We are currently seeking a dedicated and accomplished Community Outreach Manager for the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute to this landmark project that is poised to deliver transformative impacts across economic, transportation, and environmental sustainability.
The busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, the Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England. This is a milestone project that is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.
As the Community Outreach Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of this significant project. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a community outreach strategy that fosters open communication, addresses community concerns, and promotes project awareness.
- Organize and facilitate community meetings, public forums, and stakeholder consultations to gather feedback, address questions, and build relationships with community members.
- Collaborate with local organizations, government agencies, and community leaders to ensure community needs and priorities are considered in project planning and decision-making.
- Create and distribute communication materials, newsletters, and updates to keep the community informed about project milestones, timelines, and impacts.
- Coordinate outreach events, educational workshops, and site tours to engage with the community and increase awareness of the project.
- Act as a liaison between the project team and the community, addressing complaints, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive relationship throughout the project.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Community Engagement, or related field.
- Experience in community outreach, public relations, or stakeholder engagement, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and cultural sensitivity to engage with diverse communities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships with various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of community engagement best practices, public involvement techniques, and communication strategies.
- Familiarity with New York transit agencies such as PANYNJ, NJT, MTA, LIRR, Amtrak etc.
- Experience in FTA projects is highly preferred.
- Experience in delivery in programs or portfolios of significant value >$1bn is a significant advantage.
The estimated starting salary for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications
