We are currently seeking a dedicated and accomplished Senior Estimator for the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute to this landmark project that is poised to deliver transformative impacts across economic, transportation, and environmental sustainability.
The busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, the Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England. This is a milestone project that is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.
As the Senior Estimator, youll play a pivotal role in the delivery of this significant project. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a mission that aligns with our clients purpose: to create responsible places that bring transformative impact to their people, communities, and societies.
Responsibilities
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to identify scope, quantities, and specifications for tunnel construction activities.
- Conduct quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor cost estimation, and subcontractor quote analysis to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to understand project requirements, technical aspects, and scheduling constraints that may impact cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, bid proposals, and cost reports for submission to clients, stakeholders, and internal decision-makers.
- Update and maintain a cost tracking system to monitor project expenditures, track budget deviations, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Participate in value engineering exercises, risk assessments, and cost-saving initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure cost estimates are current, accurate, and competitive.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, or related field.
- Proven experience as an estimator, cost estimator, or quantity surveyor in tunnel construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software, construction cost databases, and MS Excel for detailed analysis and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labor costs specific to tunnelling and underground construction.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience in Federal Transit Agency projects.
- Familiarity with transit agencies (Such as PANYNJ, NJT, MTA, LIRR, Amtrak)
- Experience in delivery in programs or portfolios of significant value >$1bn is a significant advantage.
The estimated starting salary for this position is $180,000 - $220,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
