Job Openings Graduate Software & Data Engineers

About the job Graduate Software & Data Engineers

Kick-start your tech career with Plexure's 2027 Graduate Programme!

We're looking for 4 graduates for a 12-month, fixed-term programme starting in February 2027: 3 Graduate Software Engineers and 1 Graduate Data Engineer.

You'll be based in our Auckland CBD office and enjoy WFH days + lots of lovely benefits (more on those below).

Who are we?

  • Plexure is a SaaS company. We build an industry-leading customer engagement platform that has over 300 million users in 60+ countries around the globe.
  • Our platform redefines the customer experience and drives results through personalised mobile marketing and next-generation loyalty programs for household names such as McDonald's.

What's involved?

There are 2 separate pathways: Software Engineering and Data Engineering. Our interview process is designed to give you an overview of both options, so you can make an informed decision on whether only one is of interest to you, or if you're open to either.

Software Engineering Pathway

Plexure's platform is the engine behind the McDonald's app. Every time someone collects loyalty points, redeems a reward or gets a push notification, that runs on our platform. This pathway is backend and integration focused, not mobile or front-end development. You'll help build and look after the cloud services and APIs behind each app interaction.

You'll spend 4 months in each of three engineering teams. Our teams are organised into pillars, and each team owns a different part of the platform. You'll do two rotations in Engagement teams and one in a Consumer team.

  • Engagement Pillar: build the features that keep customers coming back, including loyalty points, rewards, personalised offers, and push, email and SMS messaging
  • Consumer Pillar: look after customer profiles, sign-in and registration, privacy and consent, and which customers see which content

Things you might work on:

  • Adding a small feature to a loyalty API alongside a senior engineer
  • Writing automated tests for how an offer is redeemed
  • Helping build part of a privacy or data-deletion feature
  • Improving monitoring on a sign-in service, or fixing a bug reported by our support team

Tools you'll come across:

  • C# and .NET
  • Microsoft Azure (Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, messaging and serverless functions)
  • Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps
  • Bicep, Terraform
  • Postman, New Relic
  • GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude

Data Engineering Pathway

Every offer viewed, reward redeemed and visit to the McDonald's app creates data. In this pathway you'll see how that data moves from the moment it's collected to the moment someone makes a decision with it.
This is an engineering pathway: you'll spend most of your year helping improve our data platform and building the pipelines and data models that turn that data into something the business can use.

Your year is split into three rotations:

  • Data & Insights (3 months): start by seeing how data is used across the business, such as measuring how a campaign performed or spotting customers at risk of leaving
  • Analytics Engineering (4.5 months): turn raw data into clean, trusted datasets (data models) that power customer dashboards, data feeds and APIs
  • Data Engineering (4.5 months): build and improve the pipelines and cloud infrastructure that bring data into our central data platform

Things you might work on:

  • Helping set up or improve part of our data platform's infrastructure
  • Helping build or fix a data pipeline and adding automated data quality checks
  • Writing, testing and documenting a data model that feeds a customer dashboard, data feed or API
  • Helping analyse how a campaign performed during your Data & Insights rotation

Tools you'll come across:

  • SQL, Python, PySpark
  • Databricks, AWS (Redshift and S3)
  • Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps
  • Terraform
  • Yellowfin, Figma
  • GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude and Databricks Genie

Across both pathways

  • Work in two-week sprints – daily stand-ups, planning, sprint reviews and retros
  • Write clean, well-structured code and contribute to testing and validation
  • Participate in code reviews to gain feedback that helps you improve
  • Learn to use AI tools effectively and responsibly
  • Take what you learn in each rotation into the next, growing your technical and professional skills as you go

What are we looking for?

  • Recently completed, or in the final year of, a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
  • A logical problem-solver who enjoys breaking problems down and working through them
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • A curious, proactive approach to learning and an openness to feedback
  • Willingness to use AI-assisted tools to support learning and work
  • Software pathway: foundational knowledge of an object-oriented language such as C# or Java
  • Data pathway: a foundational understanding of SQL and basic knowledge of Python or a similar language

What's in it for you?

  • A structured year of learning across three teams in your pathway, with coaching and hands-on support from senior and intermediate team members
  • Paid wellness days! You'll get 4 each year + a paid day off in the month of your birthday
  • Career development support – receive a $2,000 yearly training budget (pro-rated per calendar year) to use towards upskilling yourself
  • Work from home allowance — we'll give you a one-off payment of $1,000 to help you get set up at home, plus staff discounts at PB Tech to help your dollars go further
  • Fully paid health insurance for yourself, and discounts for family members (Southern Cross – Wellbeing 2) for the duration of your fixed-term contract. We've got you covered with life insurance and illness or injury income protection too.
  • Hospitality benefits — grab a free lunch or dinner in one of Sky City's restaurants (twice a year!) + a monthly credit at TANK
  • Summer hours! If there's nothing pressing left on a Friday arvo, finish up at 1:00pm (December – February)
  • Free Udemy subscription — choose from more than 200,000 available courses online!
  • Mental wellbeing support such as EAP services through Workplace Options
  • We arrange a company-wide volunteering day once a year (paid, of course)
  • Subsidized parking in the garage of our office building for $15 per day

Why do our employees love working for Plexure?

  • "I collaborate with a lot of teams across the business and have gained a lot of exposure to different areas."
  • "We use state of the art cutting edge technology. It is great to work with different technologies."
  • "You get appreciation for the work you do. I receive recognition from my leadership, peers and clients. I feel valued."
  • "We are a very diverse team – we have people from all over the world! We work hard but also like to have fun."

Interviews will be held on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November 2026.
