About the Role

As a Labor & Employment Associate in our Los Angeles, CA office, you will serve as a vital advisor to employers on the federal and state laws that shape the modern workplace. You will manage a dynamic portfolio focused on aggressive litigation defense while collaborating closely with senior attorneys. This role is designed for a versatile practitioner who can transition seamlessly between high-level courtroom advocacy, independent case management, and proactive client counseling in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation Defense: Independently manage and defend against single-plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and reasonable accommodation claims.
  • Complex Actions: Actively litigate and manage high-stakes PAGA matters and class action lawsuits.
  • Courtroom Advocacy: Draft and argue critical motions, including dispositive and discovery motions, and expertly handle the drafting and responding of initial pleadings.
  • Depositions & Discovery: Conduct and defend key depositions, including plaintiff depositions and corporate witness depositions, while managing the full discovery lifecycle.
  • Advisory & Counseling: Provide strategic daily guidance and employment counseling on federal and state employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance (preferred).
  • Matter Ownership: Handle day-to-day case responsibilities with moderate independence while maintaining a highly collaborative relationship with senior partners and team members.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of relevant labor and employment law experience, with a proven track record in single-plaintiff defense, PAGA, and class action matters.
  • Bar Admission: Must be actively licensed and admitted to practice law in the State of California.
  • Academic Background: Juris Doctorate (JD) required from an accredited law school with a strong, demonstrated academic record.
  • Skills: Exceptional research and writing skills, sharp analytical abilities, and the capacity to manage complex discovery and motion practice efficiently.
  • Authorization: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis (the firm is under no obligation to provide visa sponsorship for this position).
